Skanska Civil USA
Advanced Job Forecasting and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2 provided the construction giant with accurate forecasts and a single point of entry for all forecast data.
Skanska Civil USA is one of the largest, most financially sound construction and development companies in the country with expertise in construction, civil infrastructure, public-private partnerships, and commercial development initiatives in select U.S. markets. With an abundance of jobs going on concurrently, forecasting excellence was a top priority.
The Challenges
Skanska USA Civil was running on an outdated ERP platform and embarked on a transformational multi-phased project to migrate to a more modern platform that allowed them to take advantage of Cloud-readiness and new functionality for engineering and construction in JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2. Project forecasting was a challenge, as was collaboration across the enterprise and supplier network.
The construction giant needed to minimize cost and scope increases on projects while meeting the complex, real-world requirements of job forecasting. They needed single-point data entry for all jobs and a solution that would allow dynamic cost updating, tracking of the change order life cycle, and modern supplier management. They selected JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2, in a hybrid environment with Cloud Procurement & Supplier Qualifications Management, to accomplish their goals and transform the business.
The ArganoCSS Approach
ArganoCSS implemented 9.2 to get Skanska to a Continuous Delivery model and allow them to take advantage of robust functionality such as Advanced Job Forecasting (AJF). While 20 methods of computation (MOC) are offered in the legacy JDE Job Cost system, it wasn’t robust enough for Skanska’s needs. We saw an opportunity to expand this and make the solution work for Skanska—the way they needed it. ArganoCSS worked collaboratively with Oracle to develop broader specifications for the new AJF module and was the first partner to implement the new AJF globally.
The Results
By going to 9.2, Skanska leverages a Continuous Delivery model that allows them to get enhancements quickly and efficiently. And with AJF, they—and other companies—can create their own user-defined methods to meet their diverse forecasting requirements, and also now have forecast versioning and approval functionality. With single-point data entry for all jobs and dynamic cost updating, AJF means Skanska, and companies like them can now apply their own unique approach to forecasting computation. In addition, Skanska is taking advantage of other functionality in 9.2, such as E1 Pages, CaféOne, and being better enabled to comply with new revenue recognition standards issued by FASB/IASB.
