Tutor Perini Corporation
Acquisitions of nine companies meant managing multiple systems – a costly adventure. A JD Edwards upgrade cut costs and consolidated the systems for easier management.
Since 1894, Tutor Perini Corporation has provided construction services to public and private clients throughout the world. With over 11,000 employees and $5 billion in revenue, and an aggressive acquisition strategy, the company is a leading civil and building construction company offering general contracting and design-build services. They couldn’t let decentralized systems slow them down.
The Challenges
Tutor Perini acquired nine separate companies, each with its own ERP system. Due to the cost of maintaining all of their systems, they needed to consolidate to one scalable solution that would grow along with their business. And with their aggressive timeline, the company was skeptical that JD Edwards could fit their needs and budget.
The ArganoCSS Approach
ArganoCSS grouped the business units together based on their legacy solutions, then created a global design and rolled it out in multiple phases. Leveraging pre-configured templates accelerated solution delivery and implementing a Specialty Contractor Segment provided pay-when-paid functionality, allowing Tutor Perini to cost-effectively deliver on lump sum jobs.
To jump-start Tutor Perini’s go-live, they engaged Managed Services to assist with ongoing production support and help desk. Managed Services allowed the experienced project team members from both Tutor Perini and ArganoCSS to move on and focus on rolling out the next phase.
The Results
With a rapid JD Edwards deployment and complete back-office conversion throughout their 19 business units, ArganoCSS transformed Tutor Perini’s business and consolidated 11 ERP instances to one. The phased project was complete within 25 months.
